Welcome to the web-based gender-awareness course for teaching assistants at the Faculty of Science and Engineering

Ulf Nilsson“Everyone should feel welcome”

We are facing enormous challenges. This is true in fields such as the climate, the environment and energy supply, health, diagnosis and care, together with safety and risk management. These challenges can only be met with expertise in science and technology. And no matter what arguments are used, we will need both men and women to solve the problems.

Focussing on gender and gender equality addresses how we see each other as people: in the way that male and female students are to be met in the same manner by teachers and other students, and in the way that the education has been designed such that it does not disfavour students on the grounds of sex, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability or age.

As we educate the technology developers and problem solvers of the future, we must meet our students in a manner that ensures that all feel welcome.
