Laptops

The Institute of Technology has about 100 laptops for lending in courses. Some of them are older than others, but all have built-in RadioLAN. The following programs are installed on the laptops:

• 7-zip
• Adobe Reader
• Matlab
• Openoffice
• Putty
• Winscp
• Windows

Additional program can be installed by the professor/teacher:

• Labview

The lending aims to promote new types of teaching and will be ruled by the following guidelines:

• An educational profit will be expected in courses that use the laptops
• The laptops will not be used as a replacement for stationary computers. The laptops must be used in lectures/lessons
• Developing material for a course is time-consuming, so if the professor/teacher chooses to do so, it should be applicable to more than one academic year/course. Courses that have already adjusted to teaching with computers will be prioritized before others.
• An application where several courses will use the laptops for the same group of students, during the same study period, will be prioritized.

The laptops cannot be reserved by individual students, but only by professors/teachers in a course. Applications are accepted for one semester at a time, for fall semester no later than May 1 and for spring semester no later than October 1.

After distribution, left over laptops can be booked by Greger Karlströms, ISY. The reservation should preferably be done 2 weeks before the course start.
